Robbey Peay was a teenage boy who went missing in 1982. He has never been heard from since the last time he was seen and seemingly vanished.
Robby Lynn Peay was born on August 2, 1965 and was adopted as a baby. He was living in Salt Lake City at the time of his disappearance. Prior to his disappearance, he stayed with his family, but would sometimes run away from home. He once ran away and found work in Colorado to make a living while using a false name. Around 1978, he began to get involved with the law after some minor offenses. A month before his disappearance, Robby was arrested for tobacco possession and was placed in a juvenile detention center.
Robby and another teenage boy escaped from the juvenile detention center in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 7, 1982. Robby’s mother believes that he escaped because of the possibility of being sent to a Boy’s Ranch, which Robby absolutely did not want to go to. The other boy that he escaped with was eventually found and brought back to the center. He told investigators that he and Robby eventually went separate ways and he never heard from Robby after that.
The investigators originally believed that Robby was a runaway because of his history of running away. However, his family and investigators eventually came to believe that Robby met with foul play after he escaped because he did not stay in regular contact with his mother as he usually would when he left.
There have been no reported sightings of Robby since 1982. It is even more difficult to find Robby because in the past the laws did not require juveniles to get their fingerprints taken when brought into custody. So the idea of comparing Robby’s fingerprints to those of unidentified decedents can’t be used. After no further traces, Robby was legally declared deceased in January of 1991.
Robby was 5’9″ and 150lbs at the time of his disappearance. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He also has a scar on his back from climbing through a broken window.
